POSITION OVERVIEW
Working under the direct supervision of the Sports and Wellness Director, assist in the implementation of a variety of youth sports programs in accordance with YMCA philosophy and mission. Work with Children ages 3-14 years of age in all different programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist in implementing programs/sports, not limited to referring sporting events.
- Assist in record keeping of attendance
- Cooperating in keeping the area clean and orderly to maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff and participants.
- Assures the equipment and materials used during each session is put away and stored in the designated storage area for such equipment.
- Assist in refereeing sporting events as required.
- Adheres to all safety provisions as set forth in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
- Assists supervisor/staff/coaches with all aspects of the daily activities.
- Adheres to all standards set forth in the YMCA Code of Conduct.
- Attends all staff trainings as required.
- Works directly with participants to maintain interest in the program.
- Facilitates each individual self-esteem.
- Assures appropriate physical and behavioral limits while providing and enjoyable and safe environments.
- Promotes the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
- Effectively communicates with parents, or guardians of participants.
- Immediately advises supervisor of any concerns regarding program participants.
- Always communicates with program participants in a positive manner.
- Engages in the programs with participants.
- Leadership – Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote, and exemplify Company values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers
- Customer Service – Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
- Teamwork – Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers
- Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company.

Education and/or Experience

1 or more years of experience working with children

Must be at least 16 years of age

Ability to adhere to general program responsibilities, including leadership and communication

Must have problem solving skills.
Required Licenses/Certifications
